What is the Felix + Stone Wheelchair Seat Cover?
It's a padded, machine washable cover that fits over the seat and backrest of a wheelchair. The front is quilted natural linen and the back is a waterproof, anti-slip material, and it ties on with four fabric ties.
How does the wheelchair seat cover attach?
Four soft fabric ties fasten around the push handles and the seat frame. It takes a couple of minutes and needs no tools, clips or hardware.
Will it fit my wheelchair?
It fits most standard manual and transit wheelchairs. If it doesn't fit yours, we'll refund you.
Does it fit transit and attendant-propelled wheelchairs?
Yes. The ties fasten around the push handles, which are standard on both self-propelled and attendant-propelled chairs.
Does it fit power wheelchairs?
It's designed for manual and transit wheelchairs with a standard sling seat. Power chairs vary widely in seat shape and often have contoured backrests, so we'd suggest checking the measurements before ordering.
Is the wheelchair seat cover waterproof?
The backing is waterproof and the linen front is water-resistant, so it handles everyday spills like a knocked drink or rain on the way to the car. It is not designed for incontinence protection or large volumes of liquid.
Can I use it for incontinence protection?
No. For continence needs we recommend a purpose-made continence pad placed underneath the cover, which the waterproof backing will then help contain.
How do I wash it?
Untie it and machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then line dry in the shade. Don't tumble dry or iron the backing, as heat may damage the waterproof layer.
Will it slip or slide around on the seat?
In addition to the ties, the backing is an anti-slip material that grips the chair upholstery, to help keep the cover stay in place through transfers and daily use.
Does it protect the wheelchair underneath?
Yes. It takes the daily wear that would otherwise go into the chair's own upholstery, including friction from transfers, spills, crumbs and sun fading.
What is it made from?
The front is natural linen and the back is a waterproof, anti-slip fabric. The cover is quilted and padded through both the seat and the backrest.
Will it make the wheelchair more comfortable?
Yes. The quilted padding adds a soft layer over the standard nylon sling seat, which many people find firm during longer periods of sitting.
What colours does it come in?
It currently comes in three gorgeous colours - French Wheat, French Sage, and French Blue.
Can I use it on a shower chair or commode?
No. It's designed for wheelchairs and isn't suitable for use on shower chairs, commodes or any equipment used with water or for toileting.
Can I claim it through NDIS or Home Care Package funding?
If you or a loved one have an NDIS plan that includes a consumables budget, you may be eligible to claim the cost of wheelchair accessories. We recommend consulting with your Plan Manager or Agency to confirm your eligibility. Our products may also be covered under the Mobility Aids section of Home Care Packages.
